WHY TRACEABILITY COUNTS

A major force impacting the textile industry today is the advent of the sustainability movement. With readily available information on the internet, consumers are more knowledgeable about the impact of their choices at a societal, ecological and economic level. Today’s consumers expect accurate and detailed product information upon selection in order to ensure compliance with their social and ethical standards, therefore detailed product origin information is imperative for businesses to communicate. We at Matt King Undercover understand this and have expanded our approach to supplier compliance to include social compliance, sustainability, and traceability.

Sustainability is made up of three pillars: economic, social and environment. These principles are also informally used as profit, people and planet. Our commitment to you is as follows:

Traceability – we have the ability to trace the origins of our raw materials and track their journey through the supply chain process

Social Compliance – we work with partners that value and protect the health and safety of their employees, while simultaneously protecting the communities and environments they operate in. We make sure our workers pay is equitable and safety standards are complied with across all areas of the supply chain

Sustainability – We strive to work continuously with partners that are not harmful to the environment and work with products and processes that do not deplete our natural resources and are regulated and certified by international standards

For our organic cotton, The Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS) is the eco standard to which organic cotton textiles are produced. Oeko-Tex textiles and fabrics are certified free of harmful chemicals and are safe for human use. Our fabric has been tested and certified to be free from harmful levels of more than 100 substances. This is also the same for the organic bag that our Matt King Undercover undershirts are packed in.

Our Supima cotton is a superior type of cotton grown in the USA. It represents less than 1% of cotton grown in the world. What makes Supima unique to other cotton is the extra-long staple fiber that gives the cotton its premium properties: strength softness and colour retention. Supima farmers ensure that they are growing the best quality cotton in the world with minimal impact on the environment.

When transporting our undershirts, we use outer bag protection that is recyclable, reusable and non-toxic and for shipment 100% biodegradable pack certified by the internationally recognized body TUV Austria in the category ‘Ok compost home’ certification.

As we pursue our goal of becoming a fully sustainable eco brand by 2025, we continuously strive to enhance our sustainable journey and support only partners that believe in our mission of living and operating in a more renewable future. When buying our matt king sweat proof undershirts, you can be assured that you are buying quality from those, throughout the supply chain, that cares about quality too, at a social, environmental and economic level. We also hope that you enjoy the premium quality of the Supima and organic cotton on your skin, as much as we do…
